Careers for America's Future.

This week we have been approaching American History through the big ideas expressed in the Declaration of Independence, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have a Dream Speech", and President Obama's final State of the Union Address. Each expressed hope in the endurance of American values, and looked to a different future that was to be a better future. All anticipated progress and put their faith in the ability of the American People to carry the best of America forward.

In his speech, President Obama spoke of our New Economy and of the importance education plays in preparing your generation to participate in the new economy in jobs that haven't even been invented yet. In all likelihood, you'll continually reinvent yourself to take advantage of new opportunities over the course of your working lives.

On Thursday this week, Mrs, Biales and Mrs. Fecko will coach you through a series of career activities that will help you identify and explore your career interests. The results will be used to help you make course choices for your schedule at the high school over the next four years.

Look beyond high school. Look 20 years ahead. In 2036, when most of you will be 33-34 years old...

What do you think you'll be doing- or hope you'll be doing to make a living, and where in America- or where in the world do you think you'll be doing it? Explain.
